Reese’s Fishing Adventure, 2013

Hey Readers!

Here in Ottawa, it is going to be a balmy -20°C, and I am LONGING for those warm, lazy days of summer.  Then the dusty ol’ light bulb flicked on in my head, and I remembered that I had forgotten all about my latest battle of wits versus the fish while I was visiting my boyfriend/partner’s parent’s home last summer, and I was transported back to that day on the boat.  Sure, I was sweating like crazy in my sweater to keep the mosquitoes at bay while wearing enough bug repellant to cover three people, but I enjoyed every minute on that boat!

On this trip, it was the same gang as last time, except my boyfriend/partner stayed behind to be with our little ones.  We all but duck taped my eldest daughter to her seat, as she loves going fishing, as is getting better at it each time she goes out.  Granndpa was at the helm of the boat, guiding us along the Napanee River that flows just minutes away from his home, and taking us to the prime fishing spots along the way.

Below are some shots of the scenery we had a chance to experience on our way to our first fishing spot.  There were some other fishing crews out on the river, too, trying to see if the fish were biting but  Grandpa was able to shake them off of our trail!

These are just some of the beautiful pics of scenery we had the advantage of being out on the Napanee River last summer. This is not helping me deal with this freezing cold weather!

Some of our casts were successful…

This was so much better than last year! We lost a few while reeling them in, but we were proud of what we caught!

while others were not.

We even had a few friends drop in for a visit.

Dragonflies are some of my favourite flying beings. They are inspiring, and are a sign of positive change. I guess my Lady Luck will smile down on me to get some fish!

Overall, it was a fabulous few hours fishing.  I am by no means the seasoned angler I want to be, but I am getting closer to this goal every time I cast my line!  I have to make a point to catch more than my fish-crazed daughter next time, or else I’ll hear the end of it!

Can’t wait for my trip this year!  I hope you enjoyed this little bit of summer, if only on your computer screen!  🙂

Until my next post, Readers!

Our First Snowfall, 2013

Hey Readers!

I just felt like sharing my first snowfall for 2013 with you!  This is how the snow has begun to transform my home here in Ottawa:

Here are pics of a tree in my backyard at the beginning of the snowfall this afternoon.  The pic on the right is a close-up pic of the leaves to catch a glimpse of the snow.

These two pics are of a tree that’s on the side of my home.  The leaves are red, so snow made for a beautiful contrast.

Finally, here is the tree in my front yard.  It’s pretty with all of the snow covering it!

Readers, this is just the beginning of the snow here in Ottawa, ON!  We’re suppose to have more than average snow this year!  I’ll show you more pics as we become more snow covered!

Until my next post, Readers!

Reese’s Thanksgiving in Canada’s Captial

Hey Readers!

For those of you that didn’t know, I’m Canadian.  For us Canadians, it was our Thanksgiving weekend.  I had my mom, one of my nieces and one of my nephews come to visit me in the Capital (Ottawa) to celebrate.  Here are some pics showing what this Thanksgiving was like for me this year!

My eldest daughter and I started the day off with a late morning bike ride.  Since we gave her a new bike for her birthday, the two of us decided to let her break it in.  We rode along the Rideau Canal Western Pathway.

It is so pretty all-year round, so I couldn’t help but to take pics during our ride.  We passed certain stops such as Brown’s Inlet

These ducks met us at our first of many stops along our bike ride that morning.

I had to take a pic of this tree across from the ducks right by the Rideau Canal! I thought the tree, and those behind it, made for a lovely shot.

After our ride, I then turned around, and took the kids outside for a while so my mom and my boyfriend/partner could get some time to cook and some peace and quiet.

To give my mom and our chef (my boyfriend/partner) a break from a house full of kids, I took them out for a long walk to try and tucker them out. It was one of the quietest evenings all weekend!

Since I didn’t take them out long enough, we went over to one of the many parks in my area to try and burn even more of their energy.

I know, another tree pic! It was at the park, and it towers over everything!

Took the troops to the park after the park, but before out Thanksgiving feast. I loved this patch of leaves and seeds on the ground.

Then we finally got to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner!  Let me tell you, Readers, my man can cook!  Everything was so good!  Thanks, Chef Boyfriend/Partner!

No, I don't think this was enough dressing for all of us to eat. ;P

Well, Readers, that was Thanksgiving, 2013 at the Reese Residence in Canada’s capital!  It was fun and delicious, and it was good to see a part of my family for a few days.  Can’t wait to go home to Toronto and do all of this there!

Until my next post, Readers!

Reese’s Fantasy Closet!

Hey There, Readers!

Everyone likes to fantasize about something.  For me, one of these things is fashion.  I LOVE looking at clothes, whether it be designer, online or off the rack.  I thought I would further share what I like with you by creating my Fantasy Closet.

Why have a Fantasy Closet?  Well, since, at the moment, I’m not able to have all the clothes I want (or a closet that could hold all of it!), I figured I would create a space where I could put all of the things I wanted.  It also gives you Readers a chance to look at different desigers and labels all in one place.

I have pulled a few of my favourite pieces from my Fantasy Closet for you to look at.  I  built my Fantasy Closet on my Reese Speaks blog page on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/reesespeaksblog), so it would be easier to add to the various labels there without updating my blog here every time.

Burberry - Pleated V-Neck Silk Dress - This dress is so simple, yet elegant...it would be worn so many times!

Hope you enjoyed a sneak-peek into my Fantasy Closet!  Check out all of my wishlist items on my blog’s page on Facebook, and even give it a “Like!”  I update it as much as possible, along with the other areas of my page, so there is always something new to look at.  As well, let me know what you think by leaving me a comment, or suggest what designer or label I should look at to add to my Fantasy Closet!

Thanks for all of the support you’ve given me, I really appreciate it!

Until my next post, Readers!

Reese.
